The Office of the Defence Advisor executes various tasks but broadly covering; Defence Policy Exchanges and Military Cooperation related duties to promote Uganda’s Defence Policy, understand and contribute to better understanding of India’s Defence Policy. The Office is also charged with the responsibility of developing bilateral relations in the field of military cooperation between both countries. The Office of the Defence Advisor supports the Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs (Uganda) by promoting Military Cooperation and responding to contingencies through the strengthening of the strategic partnership with the government of India. The Defence Advisor is also responsible for the development and maintenance of a professional working relationships and advances Uganda’s strategic objectives with the Government of India. And more precisely, the Defence Advisor; advices the High Commissioner and the Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs on Security and Defence Matters between the two nations as well as develop a bilateral Defence Relationships in its different fields. The Office of the Defence Advisor is headed by Col. Simon Peter Oyoo and supported by Home Based and local staff in facilitating the management of Military Cooperation Programs, Planning, Training Management and all activities in support of the Defence Policy.
